Description
BUPEZEE is a veterinary antiprotozoal injection containing Buparvaquone, a second-generation hydroxynaphthoquinone, formulated with Sorbitan Mono-oleate to enhance solubility and bioavailability. Buparvaquone exhibits potent activity against Theileria species responsible for tick-transmitted theileriosis in cattle, including infections caused by Theileria parva and Theileria annulata.
Although the exact mechanism of action has not been fully elucidated, buparvaquone is believed to act by blocking the respiratory chain within the parasite, leading to impaired energy production and parasite death. BUPEZEE is effective against both schizont and piroplasm stages of Theileria spp., enabling its use during the incubation period as well as when clinical signs are evident, thereby helping to control disease progression and support recovery in affected animals.
Indications:
- Treatment of tick-transmitted theileriosis in cattle
- Caused by Theileria parva (East Coast fever, Corridor disease, Zimbabwean theileriosis)
- Caused by Theileria annulata (Tropical theileriosis)
- Effective against both schizont and piroplasm stages of Theileria
- Helps reduce clinical signs associated with theileriosis such as fever, loss of appetite, weight loss, anaemia, weakness, and abdominal swelling.
