Description
TRIDIP is a fixed-dose combination of Trihexyphenidyl Hydrochloride 2 mg and Trifluoperazine 5 mg, formulated for the effective management of psychotic disorders. Trifluoperazine, a typical antipsychotic, acts by blocking dopamine D₂ receptors in the brain, particularly in the mesolimbic pathway, thereby reducing dopaminergic overactivity responsible for symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking in schizophrenia. Trihexyphenidyl, an anticholinergic agent, inhibits central muscarinic receptors and helps restore the balance between dopamine and acetylcholine in the basal ganglia.
This combination is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and for the short-term control of anxiety and agitation. The presence of Trihexyphenidyl helps in preventing and managing extrapyramidal symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, and muscle stiffness commonly associated with antipsychotic therapy. TRIDIP thus offers a balanced approach by ensuring effective symptom control along with improved tolerability, leading to better patient compliance.
Indications:
- Treatment of schizophrenia
- Control of anxiety and agitation (short-term use)
Therapeutic Segment Positioning:
Antipsychotic (Neurology)
